Reminiscing the 1Radio.org Days

Monday Mayhem with Kid Craig on 1Radio was broadcast weekly and Man, THESE were the DAYS! I find myself heading back to the 1Radio.org website every once and awhile to see if miraculously the station has made a return to the net. There are some very nice words from station owner Tim on my section of the 1 Radio website. Tim obviously doesn’t understand that 1Radio was probably the best internet radio station on the planet and was a way for me to have complete control of my own radio show and experiment and have fun. That’s why I kept coming back. They were the best radio days of my career and I don’t think anything will top it! It also helped to launch me in to the Toronto market on FM radio. I miss 1Radio dearly.

Over the next little while I’ll try to find some old audio from shows and some photos and I’ll add them here. The show that ended up being my mainstay was ‘Monday Mayhem with Kid Craig on 1Radio’ and was broadcast weekly on the station.

Thanks again to Tim Longhurst for opening the world of radio up to…the world. The internet is definitely missing what 1Radio brought, and hey, how else could I convince myself that I was on BBC Radio 1?

If you ever got to listen or take part in 1Radio or if you just want to learn what it was all about, please click over to the archive and take a look. This link will start you on my section.

What Tim said about me on 1 Radio Archive:

Sometimes, a new presenter will show up and sound so slick, professional and talented, you wonder why they came to 1Radio?

One day in June, 2011, Kid Craig signed up to present a show.

His personal blurb mentioned 10 years of major market radio and five years on web radio. He hailed from Canada and was a presenter on Bounce (and later the local Virgin Radio station) in his native Canada. Here was someone who needed no mentoring on the ways of the one nor geeky instruction on the intricacies of SAM Broadcaster. Craig was ready to go – and probably born that way.

When he first opened his mouth on his very first appearance, Craig sounded every part the confident, funny and knowledgable jock. His north American accent sounded amazing and his delivery and presenting skills just brilliant. He really didn’t belong on the one. Nah, not really.

Kid Craig had a friendly, engaging style, was hilarious, played the latest tunes and created a truly infectious show. I think he stayed with the one for a few years.
